Refined and Refreshed Presents the Health Equity Initiative

Updated: May 30, 2023

In today's world, the pursuit of health and well-being should be a universal right, accessible to all regardless of their socioeconomic status or background. Disparities in healthcare access and outcomes persist, particularly among marginalized communities of color. The Health Equity Initiative aims to address these inequities by empowering individuals with knowledge and resources to navigate the healthcare system and learn more about what is in their communities. Through the online series Conversations on Health Equity where healthcare providers and experts come to speak about their field, a robust resource catalog, and insightful blog posts, this program seeks to bridge the gap and foster a healthier, more equitable future for all.

Health equity is the principle that every individual has the right to attain their highest level of health, free from unfair or avoidable barriers. It acknowledges that social, economic, and environmental factors play a significant role in determining one's health outcomes. Poverty has been identified as a key driver of health disparities. Individuals experiencing poverty often face limited access to quality healthcare, healthy food options, safe housing, and educational opportunities. These systemic barriers perpetuate a cycle of poor health and hinder the ability to build intergenerational wealth.

Through The Health Equity Initiative, Refined and Refreshed hopes to foster knowledge, empowerment, and community engagement to make health equity a reality for all. Together, we can break down barriers and create a healthier, more equitable society for generations to come.
